2020 Holiday Season Updates

The 2020 holiday season is unprecedented. Record-breaking e-commerce orders, COVID-19 closures and weather events may cause package delays.

As more people shop online to avoid crowds in stores, those numbers have grown even more. This has created shipping volumes that are taxing logistics networks nationwide, which may cause delays.

Impact of COVID-19 Containment Measures (as of March 12, 2020)

Now classified by the World Health Organization as a pandemic, COVID-19 containment measures imposed by governments around the world, are currently causing a few unavoidable impacts on both inbound and outbound shipments as outlined below. The increase in cases and spread to 114 countries has led the World Health Organization (WHO) to officially declare the COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic.

This information is provided for general guidance only. Due to the dynamic nature of the situation, the information is subject to change without notice. We are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates as they become available.

In response to the outbreak in Italy, governments in Italy have extended restrictions and limited carrier activities into and out of impacted regions. Existing containment measures in Italy continue to impact service throughout Italy. A number of airlines have suspended flights to and / or from Italy.

Warehouse Operations

As of 13.03.2020 our warehouses still operate normally and all incoming and outgoing shipments are processed without any delays. Outgoing shipments by UPS and FedEx are also processed regularly.

FedEx Covid19 Shipping Updates

Am I at risk for COVID-19 from a package or products shipped to me?

According to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services there is likely very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures, because of poor survivability of the coronaviruses on surfaces. Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread most often by respiratory droplets. Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with imported goods and there have not been any cases of COVID-19 in the United States associated with imported goods. Information will be provided on the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) website as it becomes available.

Precautionary measures to protect our employees and customers

Our focus at the moment is on protecting our employees and customers. Our employees are regularly provided with information on the situation and the guidelines Villa Di Milano has implemented in order to protect everyone’s health and safety:

  • Villa Di Milano employees have been made aware of the importance of taking basic and effective preventive hygiene measures. All employees in our warehouses wear gloves and face masks to protect our employees and customers. They have also been informed that if they experience flu-like symptoms, they should stay at home, then get in touch with the company and their supervisor and consult a physician.
  • External partners that transport cargo for Villa Di Milano have been instructed to comply with Villa Di Milano’s preventive hygiene measures when delivering consignments to customers or picking up shipments from them.
  • Villa Di Milano has also defined processes for immediately setting up specific structures designed to reduce the negative impact of any potential interruption to our business operations. As a precautionary measure, Villa Di Milano has prepared appropriate contingency plans which can be used if necessary.
  • Employees returning to their home countries from Italy (Emilia and Lombardy Region) will remain quarantined at home for 14 days after their arrival. Local guidelines that are more restrictive than the Villa Di Milano guidelines remain in effect.

We will continue to regularly update this advisory as the situation develops.

In the meanwhile, from all of us here at Villa Di Milano, we hope that you, your friends, families and loved ones are safe and well, and remain so throughout this difficult time. One of Villa Di Milano’s key mottos is “What matters to you, matters to us”, and during these extraordinary circumstances, the health, safety and well-being of you and your business are our primary concern.

Thank you for your patience and support.
